Change DNS on Ubuntu Linux

Point your Ubuntu computer at public DNS resolvers when you need to test or work around a local DNS issue. This does not change your domain’s DNS at the registrar.

Network settings (GUI)

  1. Open Settings → Network → your connection → gear / IPv4.
  2. Set DNS to Manual and enter resolvers you trust (for example your ISP, or a public resolver you choose).
  3. Apply and reconnect.
