Change DNS on macOS

Change DNS servers on a Mac when troubleshooting name resolution. This affects the Mac only — not your domain’s public DNS.

System Settings

  1. System Settings → Network → your active service (Wi‑Fi or Ethernet) → Details.
  2. DNS → add (+) resolvers you trust, remove old ones if needed.
  3. OK / Apply.
