Many people like to read their Cid Hosting mailbox inside Gmail. Google is changing how “check other accounts” works, so here is what still works and what we suggest as of 2026.
Caution: Google’s screens and deadlines change. Treat dates below as guidance from Google Help checked in 2026 — verify on Google’s site if something looks different.
What is changing in Gmail
- Check mail from other accounts (Gmail on the web pulling mail with POP) is being removed. New setups have been restricted since early 2026; existing ones are due to stop by January 2027.
- Gmailify has been switched off.
- Send mail as using another provider’s mail server is also due to be removed from Gmail by January 2027.
Mail Gmail already collected stays in Gmail — nothing is deleted from Gmail storage by that change alone.
Option 1: Gmail app on phone or tablet (recommended)
The Gmail app can still connect to your Cid Hosting mailbox with IMAP. Mail stays on our servers; you see it beside your Gmail account.
Use: incoming mail.yourdomain.com port 993 SSL/TLS; outgoing mail.yourdomain.com port 465 SSL/TLS; username = full email address. See How to Set Up Your Email on Android (same idea on iPhone with the Gmail app).
Option 2: Forward a copy to Gmail
- Log in to cPanel from clients.cidhosting.net.
- Email → Forwarders → Add Forwarder.
- Enter the local part and domain, then forward to your Gmail address.
- Replies from Gmail will come from your Gmail address unless you use another sending method.
- Spam that reaches the mailbox is forwarded too — keep cPanel spam filtering on.
- The original stays in the Cid Hosting mailbox, so watch disk usage.
Option 3: Desktop mail app
To read and send as your business address in one place, use Outlook, Apple Mail, or Thunderbird with IMAP. See our setup guides. Prefer our SMTP (mail.yourdomain.com / 465) — not Gmail’s SMTP — for your domain mailbox.
Already using “Check mail from other accounts”?
It may keep working for a while. Plan to move to one of the options above before January 2027. Need help choosing? clients.cidhosting.net/submitticket.php — tell us how you use mail (no passwords).
