Email Setup — Getting Started

This is the short path for setting up email on your Cid Hosting account: create the mailbox, then choose webmail or a mail app on your computer or phone.

1. Create the mailbox in cPanel

Log in to cPanel (from the client area → your hosting service → cPanel, or via https://yourdomain.com/cpanel).

  1. Open Email → Email Accounts.
  2. Click + Create.
  3. Choose the domain if you have more than one.
  4. Enter the username (the part before @), set a strong password, and choose a mailbox quota if you want a limit.
  5. Click + Create.

Full walkthrough: How to Create an Email Account in cPanel.

Tip: on the Email Accounts list, open Connect Devices next to the address — cPanel shows the exact server settings for that mailbox.

2. Read mail in the browser (Roundcube)

No app required. Go to one of these and sign in with your full email address and mailbox password:

We use Roundcube for webmail. See How to Access Email in Roundcube via Webmail for details.

3. Or set up a computer / phone (IMAP recommended)

IMAP keeps mail on the server so your inbox matches across devices and webmail. Use these settings unless you have a specific reason for POP.

SettingValue
Account typeIMAP (recommended)
Incoming servermail.yourdomain.com
Incoming port / encryption993 · SSL/TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP)mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing port / encryption465 · SSL/TLS
UsernameYour full email address
PasswordYour email account password
Outgoing authenticationRequired — same username and password as incoming

Replace yourdomain.com with your own domain.

Optional: POP3

If you prefer POP, use incoming port 995 with SSL/TLS, same hostname and SMTP as above. POP downloads mail to one device. If you enable “leave a copy on the server,” set a delete-after period carefully — removed messages are not recoverable from the server once gone. Prefer IMAP for everyday use.

Guides by client

  • Outlook (Microsoft 365 / current Outlook) — secure IMAP setup
  • Apple Mail on Mac
  • Thunderbird for Windows
  • IMAP on iPhone / iPad
  • IMAP on Android

If something doesn’t connect

  • Username must be the full address, not just the part before @.
  • Use the mailbox password, not your cPanel or client-area password.
  • After a password change, update every device that uses that mailbox.

Still stuck? Open a ticket from the client area with your email address (never the password) and a screenshot of any error. We aim to attend to support requests within eight hours.
