Configuring Your Email Account on Thunderbird for Windows

Set up your Cid Hosting mailbox in Mozilla Thunderbird using secure IMAP so mail stays in sync with webmail and your phone.

Settings to use

Setting Value
Account typeIMAP (recommended)
Incoming servermail.yourdomain.com
Incoming port / encryption993 · SSL/TLS
Outgoing server (SMTP)mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing port / encryption465 · SSL/TLS
UsernameYour full email address
PasswordYour email account password
Outgoing authenticationRequired — same username and password

Replace yourdomain.com with your own domain.

Add the account in Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird. If the menu bar is hidden, right-click near the top and enable Menu Bar.
  2. Tools → Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account.
  3. Enter your name, full email address, and mailbox password, then continue.
  4. If Thunderbird guesses wrong, choose Configure manually and enter the settings from the table above.
  5. Finish and open the Inbox to confirm mail downloads.

Tip: On the Email Accounts page in cPanel, Connect Devices shows the exact server settings for that mailbox.

Prefer POP3?

Use incoming port 995 with SSL/TLS, same hostname and SMTP. POP downloads mail to one device — prefer IMAP for everyday use.
